The Five Myths on Acne
November 27th, 2009 | Author: adminThere is a variety of myths about acne that are not even close to being true. They have set their status as big problems. But, the points below will show you that all these myths are never true either logically or thought wise.
1. The more you wash your face, the better it is:
Although it is not bad to wash your face often, you must keep in mind that you use to some lotion or soap that is effective while you wash your face. A lot of acne victims regularly use chemicals and insensitive face wash lotions while washing their face. They wash forcefully as they feel that it helps them remove the sheets of dead skin that cause acne.
The fact is that the main reason of acne problems does not lie with the layer of skin, but more so below it. Hence, washing your face briskly will not cure your acne, and instead it will worsen your acne situation like skin redness and annoyance. The most feasible solution would be to wash your face twice a day at the most, using a soft facial cleanser.
2. Squeezing the acne prevents its occurrence:
As soon as you squeeze or pinch out an acne, the bacteria gets a chance to enter your skin and creates an infection. In extreme cases, it can lead to everlasting scars. So, the best thing to do is to let the pimple collapse automatically or let it break automatically. After the acne breaks up, just wipe the pus by means of a fresh tissue and put on a mild antiseptic right away.
3. Sunlight is essential in curing acne:
Sunlight is effective in killing bacteria, but at the same time, it also makes your skin dry and kills the skin cells too. The overall effect is that your skin starts producing a lot more oil and causes acne. If you plan to be in the sun for a long period of time, make sure that you make use of a sun blocking cream or a moisturizer which gives protection to your skin.
4. Cure for acne:
Products like Accutane do not completely help in acne treatment on different skin types for people. Apart from this, some of the side-effects are pretty harmful. Such treatments are recommended for extremely troubled acne patients by dermatologists.
Always remember to consult a doctor or a skin specialist who gives you a proper prescription for the most efficient acne medication along with a proper balanced diet for curing your acne related problems.
5. Acne is not affected by diet:
If you have a diet filled with oily food, you are bound to have acne. The fried food can also give you a large amount of acne problems. So, stay away from such types of food as much as possible.
If you maintain a good diet along with good and mild skin cleansers, you will stay free from acne.
